Specialist Google Merchant Center Agency

Google Merchant Center (formerly known as Merchant Center Next) is now the mandatory gateway for your eCommerce to appear across Google: in Shopping, in organic search results with product listings, on Google Images, via Google Lens, and in Performance Max campaigns. If your account isn't properly configured, your products disappear from all these surfaces at once, your qualified traffic vanishes, and you can't even run Google Ads with confidence.

At Avafa Consulting, we configure, optimise and maintain your Merchant Center so that your catalogue is always approved, visible and ready to sell — organically and through paid ads.

Why Google Merchant Center is the foundation of everything

Without Merchant Center, there is no Shopping. Without a feed, Google doesn't even know what you sell.

Merchant Center is no longer "just another tool"—it has become the single point from which Google decides which products to show, to whom, where, and with what priority. Since the classic version was definitively retired in September 2024—and Google wrapped up the cycle by dropping the "Next" branding in July 2026—all accounts now operate under this system: a dashboard combining product data and advertising performance in a single view, which also uses artificial intelligence to power both free listings and paid campaigns.

What is at stake right now

Image

New image requirements

Google is already warning accounts in the dashboard if images fall below the minimum required resolution, and starting in 2027 it will begin applying real penalties to those listings if they aren't fixed beforehand.

Integration

End of the Content API for Shopping

Google is shutting down the classic Content API on August 18, 2026. Integrations that fail to update to the new Merchant API in time will stop syncing the feed.

Automation

Everything is decided by AI

The system analyses your product and performance data to automatically decide what gets shown and what gets penalised. A poor feed no longer just loses rankings: it wastes ad spend.

Much more than Google Shopping

Your catalogue lives across the entire Google ecosystem

A well-configured Merchant Center doesn't just power ads: it puts your product in front of the user across every surface where Google decides to show it.

01

Rich organic results (Visual SEO)

Your products don't just live in the Shopping tab. Thanks to product snippets and merchant listings, they appear highlighted with a photo, price, availability, and ratings directly in traditional search results — without paying per click.

02

Google Images & Google Lens

A growing share of users no longer searches by text: they browse Google Images or point their mobile camera. Merchant Center tags your images so they appear as buyable products directly within those tools.

03

Much higher CTR

A result that includes the actual product image and its price grabs significantly more attention and generates higher-quality clicks than a simple blue text link.

04

3D and Augmented Reality experiences

The dashboard supports high-quality images, 360° views, and 3D models so users can "try out" the product in their space — like seeing a piece of furniture in their living room — before visiting your website.

What we do at Avafa Consulting

With your Google Merchant Center, we cover the complete cycle

From the initial audit to monthly reporting: a well-managed account isn't set up once and forgotten—it's maintained continuously.

01Starting point

Audit & Initial Setup

We review your account from top to bottom: site verification, store policies, mandatory attributes, and identify what is stopping you from appearing or selling. We deliver a clear, prioritised action plan.
02Content

Product Feed Optimisation

We work on titles, descriptions, categories, custom attributes, and product identifiers (GTIN, brand, MPN) to maximise both the relevance and approval rate of every single listing.
03Monitoring

Issue Resolution & "Needs Attention"

We actively monitor account alerts—disapprovals, image warnings, misrepresentation policies, suspensions—and act before they cost you visibility or budget.
04Compliance

Adaptation to New Image Requirements

We audit the resolution of all your product images and fix them before strict enforcement of the new rules takes effect, ensuring no listing gets dropped from Shopping for this reason.
05Migration

Content API to Merchant API Migration

If your integration still relies on the classic Content API, we migrate it to the new Merchant API with zero downtime in catalogue synchronisation, ensuring the shutdown of the old API doesn't leave your feed frozen.
06Performance

Performance Max Integration

We configure your feed to perform at its peak within Performance Max—currently the only format available for new Shopping accounts—including audience signals and Customer Match.
07Organic reach

Visual SEO: Free Listings, Google Images & Lens

We activate and optimise free product listings and product snippets so you appear highlighted—with photo, price, and ratings—in organic search results, Google Shopping, Google Images, and Google Lens, without relying exclusively on ad spend.
08Physical retail

Local Inventory for Brick-and-Mortar Stores

If you also sell in-store, we set up free local listings and Local Inventory Ads so nearby users see which products you have in stock at that exact moment and come in to buy them.
09Strategy

Pricing & Market Intelligence

We leverage Merchant Center price competitiveness reports to see if you're priced above or below the market on identical products, and identify trending items in your sector to prioritise your catalogue and investment.
10Conversion

Promotions & Sale Badges Management

We set up promotions, discount codes, and "Sale" badges that stand out visually across all Google surfaces, increasing the appeal of your listings against competitors.
11Trust

Product & Seller Ratings

We activate and centralise verified reviews (product ratings and seller ratings) so your listings display star ratings and build trust before the click—one of the biggest CTR boosters.
12Tracking

Continuous Monitoring & Reporting

Constant tracking of account status, approval trends, catalogue coverage, and clear reports with recommended actions month after month.

These 12 fronts are worked on in parallel, not in series: while we audit and fix issues, we are already optimising feeds, pricing, and visual presence—so your account moves forward on all fronts at once, rather than one after the other.

Why Avafa

What sets our agency apart?

01

Professionalism

We tell you the true state of your account and what needs fixing, without sugarcoating the diagnosis or selling false promises.

02

Specialisation

We work exclusively with Google Merchant Center: we know its policies, attributes, and deadlines inside out.

03

Prevention

We fix potential issues before Google penalises you, rather than after you've lost visibility.

04

Constant updating

We closely follow every change from Google — image requirements, Merchant API, Performance Max — so your account never falls behind.

05

Ongoing support

We don't just hand over a report and disappear: we stay alongside your account with continuous monitoring and support.

06

Measurable results

Catalogue approval, coverage, and Shopping performance: clear numbers, not vague promises.

We don't work with generic checklists. Every eCommerce has a different catalogue, sector, and competition, and your Merchant Center is configured for your business, not a template.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know

Are Merchant Center Next and Google Merchant Center the same thing?+
Yes. Google dropped the word "Nex" from the name in July 2026: it's the exact same dashboard, accounts, and features, just under a new name. If you see references to "Merchant Center Next" online, they refer to the exact same platform you use today.
Why is Google Merchant Center so important in an SEO/Ads strategy?+
Because it is the single source of data Google uses to display your products in Shopping, free listings, and Performance Max. Without a properly configured account, there is no visibility in either organic search or paid ads.
Is Merchant Center only used to run ads?+
No. It is also the data source for your free product listings in organic search results, Google Images, and Google Lens. A well-optimised account generates visibility and traffic at zero cost-per-click, while also boosting the performance of your campaigns.
Does SEO replace Google Ads if my Merchant Center is properly configured?+
No, but it reduces your long-term dependence on ad spend. Combining an optimised feed with Performance Max campaigns is currently the most efficient strategy.
What happens if my product images don't meet the new minimum resolution?+
Google is already warning accounts in the dashboard about affected products. If they aren't fixed in time, those listings will stop showing when strict enforcement of the rule takes effect. We review and fix this as part of our initial audit.
Do I need to migrate from the Content API to the Merchant API?+
If your feed reaches Merchant Center via API, yes: Google is shutting down the classic Content API on August 18, 2026, and integrations that fail to migrate will stop syncing. If you upload your feed via file, scheduled fetch, or Google Sheets, this closure won't affect you. We take care of the complete migration without interrupting your catalogue synchronisation.
I have a physical store, does Merchant Center offer any benefits for me?+
Yes. With local inventory, Google shows nearby users whether you have the product available in your store at that exact moment, both in free local listings and Local Inventory Ads. It is one of the most underutilised levers in physical retail.
Can I find out if my prices are competitive?+
Yes. Merchant Center includes price competitiveness reports against identical products in the market and spots trending items in your sector. We use these to recommend pricing adjustments and prioritise your catalogue.
How long does it take to see results?+
Fixing critical errors (disapprovals, policies, images) can reflect within days. Sustained improvements in visibility and Shopping/Performance Max performance typically consolidate within 1 to 3 months.
Do you work with any eCommerce platform?+
Yes: PrestaShop, WooCommerce, WordPress, Shopify, Magento, and others, adapting feed generation and maintenance to each platform.
Let's talk

Your competitors are already optimising their feed. Are you?

A poorly configured Merchant Center doesn't just cost you visibility in Shopping: it's stripping away your presence in search results, on Google Images, and via Lens — costing you sales right now. Let's talk and review the real state of your account.
