Connect PrestaShop With Google Merchant Center 2026

How to connect your PrestaShop store to Google Merchant Center

If you run a PrestaShop eCommerce and are reading this, you likely already know that Google Merchant Center is key to increasing sales.

But here’s what nobody tells you: connecting your store incorrectly can lead to Google rejecting your feed, preventing your products from being displayed, and wasting months of work.

In this article, I will explain step-by-step how to correctly connect PrestaShop with Google Merchant Center, which errors to avoid, and which modules or strategies actually work.

Because if you take your business seriously, you cannot afford to improvise here.

What do you need before connecting your PrestaShop store to GMC?

Before doing anything, make sure you have all of this ready:

  • A Google account with access to Search Console, Google Ads, and Merchant Center.
  • Your domain verified and claimed in Google Search Console.
  • Your PrestaShop store working correctly (no 404 errors, no live testing).
  • At least one module to generate XML feeds (there are both free and paid options).
  • A clear list of your target countries and available languages.

Got it? Good. Let’s get straight to the point.

Step 1: Verify your domain in Search Console

This step is mandatory. Google needs to ensure you are the owner of your store.

  1. Log in to Google Search Console with your account.
  2. Add your domain (without «www», just the root domain).
  3. Use DNS verification (cleaner and permanent) or HTML verification if you have header access.

Expert Tip: If you have multiple subdomains (for languages or countries), verify them all. It will save you future trouble with localized feeds.

Step 2: Create your Google Merchant Center account

Go to Google Merchant Center and create a new account. Ensure you:

  • Enter your tax information and base country correctly.
  • Claim your domain from Merchant Center using your Search Console account.
  • Choose the correct language and time zone (this affects feed approval).

Step 3: Install an XML feed module in PrestaShop

Here are several options:

  • Official Google module (free): Limited, but useful for small catalogs.
  • Premium modules (like ShoppingFeeder, Common-Services, BusinessTech): Ideal for large catalogs. They allow creating multiple feeds by country, category, language, etc.

What matters:

  • It should allow you to customize feed fields: title, description, price, availability, GTIN, brand, Google category, etc.
  • You must be able to schedule automatic feed updates (at least every 24 hours).

Step 4: Generate your feed and upload it to GMC

  1. From the module, generate the feed (usually in XML format) and copy the URL.
  2. Go to Merchant Center > Products > Feeds > Add new feed.
  3. Select the country and language.
  4. Choose the scheduled feed option.
  5. Paste the feed URL and set the frequency to daily.

Google will take 12 to 48 hours to process your feed. If there are errors, it will display them in the “Diagnostics” tab.

Step 5: Activate Free Product Listings

Once your feed is working, activate the Free Product Listings program on Google Shopping.

  • Go to “Growth” > “Manage programs” > Free product listings.
  • Follow the steps and complete the requirements.

This allows you to appear in product results without paying a single euro in Ads.

Errors to avoid (because Google doesn’t warn you):

  • Not including GTIN or MPN in products: Many will be rejected.
  • Not using the correct Google Product Category: You lose relevance.
  • Not having a visible return policy: You will be blocked.
  • Misconfiguring feed language or country: Google treats this as inconsistent.
  • Uploading a feed without clean images or with watermarks: Immediate rejection.

Does all of this seem like too much? It’s normal.

Most stores we see get it wrong from the start with poorly built feeds and unconfigured modules. At Avafa Consulting, we have connected PrestaShop stores with over 10,000 products in 3 different countries with real results: qualified traffic, sales, and free visibility from the very first week. FAQs: PrestaShop and Google Merchant Center

What if I already have products in Merchant Center but no PrestaShop feed?

You are losing control. Google might be using incorrect data. Connect your feed correctly to maintain authority over your products.

Do I need a paid module for a professional feed?

If you have more than 500 products or sell in multiple languages/countries, yes. Free options are insufficient.

Is the feed uploaded once or updated?

It must be updated automatically every day. Otherwise, Google may reject products due to outdated stock.

What about GTIN/MPN?

You can use MPN and brand. But if you have neither, many products will not be displayed.
