Orlando retailers compete for the attention of residents, seasonal visitors and tourists who search on their phones before they go anywhere. Google Merchant Center gives stores in Central Florida two tools that cost nothing to activate: free listings and local inventory.
Free listings: products on Google at no cost
Free listings show your products on the Shopping tab and other Google surfaces without paying for clicks. All you need is an approved Merchant Center account with free listings enabled and a product feed in good shape.
For many small and mid-size retailers, they are the easiest first step on Google Shopping.
Local inventory: show what is in your store
If you have a physical store, local inventory lets Google show nearby shoppers that a product is available at your location. That matters to anyone who wants the product today, which in a city full of visitors is a lot of people.
To use it you need:
- A Google Business Profile for each store, linked to Merchant Center.
- Your online product feed.
- A local inventory feed with the stock and price for each store.
- Product pages or a store page that show availability.
What Orlando retailers should watch
- Seasonality: demand moves with tourist seasons and events. Keep stock in the local feed up to date so Google doesn’t send people for products you no longer have.
- Hours and locations: holiday hours and temporary closures in your Business Profile should be accurate.
- Two languages: Central Florida also has many Spanish-speaking shoppers. Our guide to bilingual Merchant Center feeds explains how to reach them.

FAQs
Are free listings really free?
Yes. There is no cost per click. You only pay if you also run Shopping ads.
Do I need a website to use local inventory?
Google needs a page where shoppers can see the product and its availability, either on your website or a store page hosted by Google.
